primary Group
A primary group is in which there is daily interaction and the interaction is very personal and informal. Some examples of this include the families and relationships such as boyfriends and girlfriends. Interactions between these are usually face to face and are intimate.
A great example of a primary group is the show friends. The informal, unorthodox group of friends deals with each other on a daily basis and face to face. Not only do they live together, so they interact often, but relationships are also between some of the characters.

Sociologist Charles H. Cooley coined the term Primary Group in the early twentieth century. Primary groups are present in all societies since nearly everybody belongs to a small, intimate group in which they interact quite often. Cooley stated that primary groups are important because they slowly merge their members with the rest of society; much like a family raising a child and then sending him off to college.
